Rochester, N.Y.—February 29, 2008—Results are in for the third annual Online Business Simulation Scholarship Competition sponsored by the Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester. Steven Pepe of Webster, N.Y., won first place in the competition earning him a full-tuition scholarship to the Simon School full-time M.B.A. program worth $73,680.
The other six finalists are winners of partial scholarships ranging from half to three quarters of the full tuition. They are: Michael Sung of Vaughn, Canada; Rochester Institute of Technology student Christopher Tytler of Rochester, N.Y.; and University of Rochester students and recent graduates Douglas Bennett ’09, a Spencerport, N.Y. resident originally from Kintnersville, Pa.; Brian Clancy ’07 of Rochester; Ruitaing Liang, M.S. ’04 and Ph.D. candidate, a native of Guangzhou, China who currently resides in Rochester; and Nikola Vukovic ’08 of Belgrade, Serbia, who currently lives in Rochester.
Contestants were required to devise strategies and solutions to solve a series of six key business decisions. The simulation, established to attract high-quality applications to the Simon School M.B.A. program, was again administered by Innovative Learning Solutions Inc.
Over 80 people from more than 10 countries participated in the competition which ran from September through November 2007. Scholarship finalists presented their business solutions to a committee comprised of Simon School administrators and faculty at the Simon School on January 12, 2008.
Last year, the Simon School awarded one full-tuition and six partial-tuition scholarships for the Simon M.B.A. Programs.
