Rochester, N.Y.—May 2, 2008—The Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester is launching a new blog for women interested in starting their own businesses or furthering an existing entrepreneurial venture. The Women Entrepreneurs Blog @ Simon (http://www.webatsimon.com/) will provide a fact-filled online forum featuring insight from leading Western New York female entrepreneurs including Kitty Van Bortel of Van Bortel Subaru; Lauren Dixon, C.E.O. of Dixon-Schwabl Advertising; Jane Glazer, founder and president of QCI Direct; Suzanne Clarridge, president, C.E.O and founder of My Brands Inc.; Cindy Hirschberg, intellectual property attorney at Brown & Michaels, P.C.; Stella Slaight, vice president of business and professional banking at M&T Bank; and Yvonne DiVita, founder and president of Windsor Media Enterprises L.L.C.

The blog is the idea of Dennis Kessler, Edward and Agnes Ackley Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Simon School and co-owner of Friendly’s and Burger Kings across upstate New York. Kessler will host the online discussion, aimed at being the go-to site in Western New York for helpful information on starting a business, creating a business plan, finding financing, legal direction and much more.

Regular features will include an Ask the Entrepreneur advice column, profiles of leading Western New York female entrepreneurs, and FAQs: Answers to Common Questions.

“We are pleased to offer this new blog for women entrepreneurs,” says Dean Mark Zupan.  “Entrepreneurship is the future of the regional economy, and both the Simon School and the University of Rochester are committed to educating entrepreneurs. We are grateful to Dennis Kessler for his leadership in creating the blog, and to the outstanding women entrepreneurs who are serving on our experts panel. We look forward to generating useful ideas and information on this important topic.”
