Simon School 16th Annual Secret Santa Gift Wrapping Party

Volunteers Wrap Holiday Gifts for Local Children in Need

Rochester, N.Y.—December 4, 2008—The holiday season will again be made brighter for local children through the efforts of the 16th annual Simon School Secret Santa Program. The program, organized by Simon Volunteers, a student-run organization at the Simon Graduate School of Business (University of Rochester), unites students, faculty, staff and alumni each year through fundraising, shopping and wrapping holiday gifts for needy children in Rochester’s South Wedge neighborhood.

A festive Secret Santa Gift Wrapping Party is set for Monday, December 8, 2008, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the Schlegel Hall, Eisenberg Rotunda (University of Rochester River Campus). Simon Volunteers will partner with three organizations that assist children and families in the neighborhood surrounding the University: Catholic Family Center, the South Wedge Planning Committee, and Rochester Children’s Nursery.

Last year, the club raised over $9,500 enabling the Simon School to provide clothing, toys and school supplies for 138 children from 40 underprivileged families here in the Rochester area.

“The Secret Santa Program brings together the entire Simon School community in a united effort to help those in need during the holiday season,” says Dean Mark Zupan. “In addition to making the holiday brighter for Rochester children, it exposes our international students to American holiday traditions and enriches those traditions for our domestic students, faculty and staff. Simon is proud to participate in this community service project each year.”
