SIMON EARNS HIGH MARKS IN BUSINESSWEEK SPECIALTY RANKINGS

Rochester, N.Y.-January 5, 2009-The Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester ranks ninth for most improved and 10th for accounting among the top business schools in the world in recently released BusinessWeek business specialty rankings.

            As part of its 2008 M.B.A. ranking, BusinessWeek surveyed corporate recruiters at more than 500 leading companies that hire the most graduate business students about which schools produce the strongest graduates in 12 functional areas including marketing, global business, and accounting among others.

            In addition to the most improved and accounting specialty rankings, Simon placed 14th for innovative curriculum, 20th for finance, 21st for operations/production, 22nd for competing globally, 25th for analytical skills, 26th for career services and 31st for general management.

            “Our reputation among corporate recruiters is of primary importance to our students in terms of placement,” says Dean Mark Zupan. “The greatest gift that we can ultimately give our students is to provide them with a framework that will last throughout their professional careers and allow them to add significant value to the organizations that they affiliate with or launch.             Last month, BusinessWeek ranked Simon the first private business school, the fourth U.S. business school and 12th overall for return on investment.
