3-2 Program

The 3-2 program is exclusively available to University of Rochester undergraduate students only. Students admitted to the 3-2 program earn both a bachelor’s degree in an undergraduate major and a master of business administration degree in five years. Applications for the 3-2 program are included in a pool with all applicants who have no post-baccalaureate work experience. The first year of the M.B.A. program is substituted for the senior year of college. Due to the rigors of the first year of M.B.A. study, 3-2 students generally forego all undergraduate responsibilities during their 4th year of study, including sports team membership and student club officer posts.

No merit-based scholarships are available to 3-2 students. During the fourth year of study (first year of M.B.A.), 3-2 students will receive merit and need-based aid through the Financial Aid Office in the same manner as with other undergraduates. Most fifth year students borrow money to finance their final year of M.B.A. study.

While completing your University of Rochester bachelor’s degree, you must:

  • Fulfill all major and distribution requirements no later than the end of the junior year
  • Add analytical/quantitative courses such as accounting, microeconomics, statistics, algebra, and calculus
  • Pursue activities that match your passions and demonstrate your potential for leadership
  • Complete business-related internships or jobs that will broaden your professional experience
  • Attend Undergraduate Preview Day or an individual informational session with the Simon School Admissions Office
  • Study for and complete the GMAT
  • Apply for admission in the 2nd semester of your junior year (once fall grades are available)
