In the 3-2 program, University of Rochester (U of R) undergraduates earn both a Bachelors degree in an undergraduate major and a master of business administration degree in five years. 3-2 applications are considered in a pool with all applicants who have no post-baccalaureate work experience. Competitive 3-2 candidates typically have an above average academic profile and several business-related internships. The first year of the M.B.A. program is substituted for the senior year.
No merit-based scholarships are available to 3-2 students. During the fourth year of study (first year of M.B.A.), University of Rochester 3-2 students will receive merit and need-based aid through the Financial Aid Office in the same manner as other undergraduates. Fifth year students borrow money or use personal resources to finance their final year of M.B.A. study.
Due to the rigors of the first year of M.B.A. study, 3-2 students find it extremely difficult to maintain undergraduate responsibilities, including but not limited to sports team membership and student club officer posts. We recommend talking with the Simon School admissions team prior to application, to discuss the feasibility of balancing a full-time M.B.A. courseload, along with involvement in both undergraduate and graduate-level extra-curricular clubs and activities. We expect 4th year 3-2 students to be actively involved as first and second-year M.B.A. students - both inside and outside the classroom.
