One-Year MBA Program
Simon Business School has developed a new one-year MBA program for career builders, particularly for candidates who have four or more years of career-relevant work experience.
The one-year program starts with the renowned Simon core, a series of courses that provide a solid foundation and framework for management education. The core course requirements remain unchanged between the accelerated and the traditional two-year MBA degree program.
Recognizing that candidates who are building on their prior experience have less need for the flexibility offered by additional electives, reducing the number of required electives by four accelerates the program. This reduction, combined with a summer term start will allow students to finish the program in one year.
The traditional Two-year MBA program will be the program of choice for career switchers who are looking to move into a new industry or field.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the One-Year MBA recognized as equivalent to the Two-Year MBA?
Yes, there are a variety of program format options to complete the Simon MBA. The differences include the number of classes, timing to complete, and bundling of courses—all of which are customized to the type of student typically enrolling in each program. Each MBA format delivers a rigorous, analytic and economics-based curriculum that focuses on the unstructured business problems you will face when you re-enter the workplace.
I am hoping to make a career change, is this possible with the One-Year MBA?
The One-Year MBA is designed for students who are staying within their current job function and looking to accelerate their career advancement. An internship is not possible for the One-Year MBA due to the accelerated nature of study. Since many top companies use the summer internship as a screening tool to evaluate candidates who are seeking a career shift, we recommend that you target our Two-Year MBA if you are seeking a major career change. The Two-Year MBA also provides more training and choices for elective classes to build your expertise in your desired career path.
Are the One-Year MBA students in a separate cohort?
For a few courses such as the FACt Workshop, FACt Business Project Course and Business Communications, One-Year MBA students will have a separate cohort. All other courses will be integrated with Two-Year MBA students to maximize your learning experience and your networking potential.
Are Simon scholarships available to One-Year MBA students?
Yes, merit-based funding is available to One-Year MBA students and is determined at the time of admission to the Simon program.
