Full-Time M.B.A. Program Loans

The University of Rochester administers the full range of Federal and private financial aid programs. The University of Rochester recommends lenders as a convenience because they offer superior borrower benefits (e.g. low rates and fees) and good customer service, as reported by our students and graduates, based on an annual review. The Universtiy has no agreements or relationships with these lenders and does not receive any benefit, financial or otherwise, from their use by students. You are free to borrow from any lender you choose and should take the time to compare borrower benefits among lenders before you decide. Please be aware that loans are based on credit-worthiness and approvals are not automatic. Each lending agency makes the decision on whether or not you will be approved for the loan.

To apply for student loans, students entering in September should submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the College Scholarship Service. To receive a timely response, a completed FAFSA should be on file in the University of Rochester Financial Aid Office by June 1st. For students entering in January, the FAFSA should be submitted by November 15th. (The University of Rochester requires parental information of dependent students only).

Loans for International Students

The Simon School is pleased to announce a new International Student Loan Program (ISLP) that will provide partial funding toward full-time M.B.A. studies, effective September 2009. Credit-worthy international students are eligible to apply and there is no requirement to secure a U.S. citizen or resident as a co-signer. The annual loan limit will be based on the cost of tuition and mandatory fees, minus any other aid received as certified by the School. The minimum loan is $10,000. The maximum loan amount depends on the program of study to which the student is enrolling. Students with a significant negative U.S. credit history, such as outstanding defaulted credit, bankruptcies, tax or other liens or foreclosures will be declined. Those borrowers with good credit or no credit reported on U.S. credit bureaus will be approved. The loan is administered through the Access Group and more information, as well as the online application, can be found on their website: www.accessgroup.org/isp.

In addition, international students who have 3 or more years of residency in the U.S. may qualify for a loan without a co-signer, based upon their personal U.S. credit history. Please visit www.accessgroup.org to learn more about their loan programs for business school students.

Please note that all students who apply for ISLP, or any other general loan, need to also submit a Graduate Online Application with the University of Rochester Financial Aid Office.
