Part-Time MBA Curriculum

The Part-time MBA degree requires 64 hours of study and a total of 20 classes (nine core required courses and 11 electives), the same course requirements as in our Full-time MBA. As a part-time MBA student, you may take up to two courses a quarter. The minimum time of completion therefore is two and a half years, but the average length to complete the program is three and a half years. Part-time students have up to seven years, from the start of their first class to the end of their last class, to complete the degree requirements.

Core Curriculum

  • Corporate Financial Accounting
  • Framing and Analyzing Business Problems I
  • Managerial Economics
  • Capital Budgeting and Corporate Objectives
  • Marketing Management
  • Operations Management
  • Framing and Analyzing Business Problems II
  • Computers and Information Systems
  • Economic Theory of Organizations

FACt Curriculum

Corporate recruiters say they are looking to hire MBAs who can solve unstructured business problems and present workable solutions. The Simon School’s new Frame, Analyze, and Communicate (FACt) curriculum equips part-time MBA students with exactly those skills. FACt is designed to help students to develop those skills in all their business studies.

The FACt technique for solving business problems has three key points:

  • Frame the Problem – Break down a large, ambiguous question into several smaller sub-problems
  • Analyze and Research the Problem – Find relevant data, form and test hypotheses, then come to a conclusion and make a recommendation
  • Communicate the Implications of Your Analysis – Persuade others of the benefit of your conclusion
