F.A.Ct. Curriculum

Corporate recruiters say they are looking to hire M.B.A.s who can solve unstructured business problems and present workable solutions. The Simon School’s new Frame, Analyze, and Communicate (F.A.Ct.) curriculum equips part-time M.B.A. students with exactly those skills. F.A.Ct. is designed to help students to develop those skills in all their business studies.

The F.A.Ct. technique for solving business problems has three key points:

  • Frame the problem - Break down a large, ambiguous question into several smaller sub-problems;
  • Analyze and research the problem - Find relevant data, form and test hypotheses, then come to a conclusion and make a recommendation;
  • Communicate the implications of your analysis - Persuade others of the benefit of your conclusion.
