PhD Admissions

Deadline for Submission of On-Line Application: January 15th (transcripts and recommendations must be received no later than January 31st).

Our doctoral program accepts full-time students only. Admissions decisions are made in the spring.

THE FOLLOWING  ITEMS ARE REQUIRED FOR YOUR SIMON PHD APPLICATION:

  • Completed and submitted online application.
  • Official transcripts for all university level coursework for which a grade was received. Official transcripts must be sent in through the mail, stamped, and sealed by the issuing institution. Please have all transcripts mailed to the address listed below. All transcripts must be received in our office no later than January 31st.
  • Two letters of recommendation are required. The letters of recommendation may be submitted either electronically via our online application or by mail. We will consider additional recommendations, however please note that if you have more than two recommenders, the additional letters will need to be mailed directly to the contact address listed below (as our on-line system only has space for two). Any recommendation mailed in should be sealed and signed across the seal by the recommender prior to mailing.
  • Two completed essays submitted via the online application (see online application).
  • A current resume is required to be submitted via the online application.
  • An official test score report, either the GRE or the GMAT (either test score is acceptable for the application), less than five-years old (sent to us directly from ETS - GRE or GMAT). Our GMAT reporting code is WX9-8R-41.  Our GRE code is 2961.
  • For applicants whose first language is not English and who have not received a degree from an English-speaking institution, an official TOEFL test score report less than two years old from ETS (TOEFL).  Our TOEFL reporting code is 8168-02. If you will receive a degree from an English speaking institution prior to July 2013, you may waive the TOEFL score requirement.
  • The non-refundable USD $150 application fee (waived for applications with a GMAT scores above 680 or a GRE score if test taken prior to 8/1/2011 with a total score of 1400 or over. Due to GRE format change If GRE was taken after 8/1/2011 total score must be 330 or over). If your GMAT or GRE score qualifies you for the fee waiver, please select the waiver option for payment when submitting your on-line application. The waiver will then be verified when we receive your official test score report.

Application Status

You can view the status of your application on-line through your application account. By checking your application status, you can verify whether we have received the necessary pieces of your application.

Interviews

Interviews are not a requirement for admission to our program and interviews are not granted upon request of the applicants.

Re-Application

If you have previously applied to the Simon School PhD Program, we request that you complete a new application. This will require that you create a new log-in for our online application system. Please mark that you have previously applied to our program and we will try to match your previous materials such as transcripts and test scores to your current application. Please note, prior application materials are kept on file for a maximum of two years only.
