Finance and Marketing
SVP Strategy & Business Development,
Constellation Wines

A career path that began as a marketing analyst intern at Canandaigua Wine Company has come full circle. Applebaum earned both his undergraduate degree and Simon MBA through the University of Rochester’s 3-2 Program. He specifically chose the University of Rochester as an undergrad with the intention to pursue his MBA at Simon. Simon was and is highly ranked on a national and global basis, which factored strongly into his decision. He concentrated in Finance and Marketing and it was the analytical approach to framing and solving problems and communicating solutions that were critical skills he learned from the Simon faculty. “The faculty is what really makes Simon special. The extraordinary passion, commitment and personal approach given by the professors really made the difference between a simply gaining a good education and becoming a very well prepared professional graduate”. Following his summer internship, he was asked to stay on as a full-time market analyst at Canandaigua Wine while finishing his Simon MBA part time. He was highly motivated to complete his MBA as quickly as practical so he took 2 evening classes each quarter after work.

Now as vice president of business development, his responsibilities include commercial evaluation of acquisitions and joint ventures as well as analyzing internal sales and marketing synergies. Applebaum hosts company-wide quarterly internal global marketing and sales council meetings for senior-level executives to discuss best practices and address any issues. His responsibilities include disseminating the corporate vision and goals through the ownership of the strategic planning process.
