Annie Fitzpatrick-Post was the first part-time Simon student to study abroad while holding down a full-time job, an accomplishment she feels would not have been possible without the enthusiastic support of faculty and administration. "Given I was trying to juggle this around vacation time with my job at Xerox, I needed to have individual attention to make this opportunity even begin to look like a possibility for me, and I’m not confident that I would have gotten the same individualized attention at another school," Annie says.
Annie's involvement in international MBA exchange at the Helsinki School of Economics benefitted her as a Simon student and now as world wide general manager for the monochrome high-end cut-sheet portfolio/used production line of business at Xerox Corp. in Rochester. "Business is global, and any experience someone can get outside of his or her native country is a terrific one to have," Annie says. "It has helped me several times in my current role to keep WW teams moving forward as we work for common solutions to our everyday concerns."
Annie says her Simon experience has affected her career path in "a wonderful way." Before she began studying at Simon, her career primarily was centered on the areas of mechanical, xerographic, and systems engineering. Since she received her Simon MBA, Annie has held a number of positions in program management, productivity and cost management, and most recently, as the GM for one of Xerox’s flagship lines of business. "Simon has helped to teach me how to draw on both sets of skills and become the best contributor I can to my company's success," she says.
"The analytical way of thinking has probably been my biggest take-away from the Simon program. I believe that Simon provided me with a level of critical thinking and refinement in this area which is more in-depth than I would have gotten elsewhere."
