Drawn by Simon’s reputation, Athena Kasvikis enrolled right after earning her bachelor’s degree. In her first year, the Simon Marketing Club’s fall trip sparked her interest in a brand management career. On the trip meeting, Simon alums working at P & G helped her decide to seek an internship, and then a position at the company. Athena remains in touch with these alums, who have continued to be a great help to her in her career. Academically, it was the first-year Brand Management Workshop class that prepared her for her P&G internship, teaching her the data-mining skills she used daily, as well as how to most effectively interpret her findings. In the demanding Economics of Competitive Strategy course, she became proficient in strategic thinking, which she employs daily in her job.
“I think that the Simon education teaches you the fundamentals of business. Therefore, no matter what the changing landscape of the business world looks like, Simon students who really invest in their education will be able to adapt and change along with the times. Fundamentals will always be the essential building blocks of your knowledge.”
