A positive experience with a faculty member while grappling with a simple concept in a core economics during hisfirst quarter at Simon left a lasting impression on Jordon Jones. Humbled and embarrassed, Jordon approached the professor, James Brickley, who offered immediate and patient assistance.
"He helped me understand this concept by teaching me to reframe the way I was thinking about it," Jordon recalls. "What was probably a relatively unmemorable meeting to him proved to be a very poignant learning experience for me. I have never participated in a more challenging yet collaborative environment, and the faculty members are an integral part of the learning experience at Simon."
Jordon, who is from Salt Lake City and has had an internship in the Travelers Insurance Financial Management Leadership Development Program in Hartford, CT, says his Simon experience has equipped himwith the problem-solving skills that companies are looking for in their leaders, as well as provided him with a rich professional network. "I know I will always have a support group in the Simon alumni network, regardless of where my career takes me and my family. And as a member of the Simon community, I will have plenty of opportunities to return the favor."
"When I was applying to schools, I had the opportunity to meet with several second-year Simon students at an alumni reception in Salt Lake City and I was especially impressed by the sincere friendship they shared. I could tell through my interactions with them that their relationships were real, that they worked well together, and that their relationships served as a valuable learning tool in their business-school experience. This was exactly the type of team-focused experience I was looking for in an MBA program."
