Latin American Student Organization of Simon
DESCRIPTION
The Latin American Student Organization of Simon (LASOS) is a student-run organization that gathers not only Latin American and Latino students at Simon, but also students and faculty with any kind of interest in the Region and its culture.
MISSION
Our mission in LASOS is to:
- Educate the Simon community about the growing importance of the Hispanic and Latino markets in the US and the global economy, including their impact on current business practices and career opportunities.
- Build a strong network with people related with the region and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Latin American community at Simon.
- Benefit the Simon community by creating awareness of the region’s rich culture and traditions in order to foster mutual understanding, cross-cultural communication, and cooperation amongst the student body, while contributing to Simon’s diversity.
OBJECTIVES
In order to pursue its mission, LASOS relies ACADEMIC, PROFESSIONAL and CULTURAL objectives.
ACTIVITIES
LASOS provides its members with opportunities and support through:
- Panel discussions and speaker series with Hispanic leaders on current Latin American business issues or in any relevant field.
- Professional activities and networking events with Latin American and Latino alumni, leaders and organizations.
- Mentorship for 1st year students.
- Social events, such as parties, dinners, tastings, and trips.
- Participation in national career events such as the NSHMBA Conference.
- Connections with other Hispanic and Latin American organizations in the University of Rochester.
- Access to employment opportunities in the US or Latin America.
- The International Management Concentration informational session during the Fall quarter.
