Full-Time, M.B.A. Finance, Competitive and Organizational Strategy

Senior Business Consultant
Liberty Mutual Group
Class of 2004

When Marcelo Fama came to Simon, he brought with him a degree in engineering and extensive business experience in his native Sao Paulo, Brazil, and in New York. It was time, he decided to get the big picture, to learn the theoretical basis for the decisions he was putting into practice as a senior strategic consultant for Accenture do Brazil. Simon’s excellent faculty, highly regarded curriculum and size all influenced his choice, as did the emphasis on team learning. His current duties at Liberty Mutual Group tap the full range of skills he acquired at Simon.

“A complete management education involves both hard (quantitative) and soft (management and problem-solving) skills. You don’t gain soft skills in the classroom. You gain them working with people and managing people in different activities. Simon provides a lot of potential for developing these skills. For me, they came through being a student leader of the Simon Coach Program and as co-president of the Latin American Student Organization. Along with my classroom training, the selling, listening, teaming, presentation and other skills I learned in those activities have made me a better professional with improved leadership ability.”
