Ken Burkeen ’02S (MBA)

Founder and Owner, Huetiful Salons and Huetiful Pro

Ken is the founder and owner of the Huetiful Salons (located in Atlanta and Chicago) and Huetiful Pro, a beauty care product licensing company and cosmetology consultancy practice.

Ken is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he pursued a military career in logistics and resigned his commission at the rank of captain. Following his military career, Ken attended Simon Business School as a Consortium Fellow, concentrating in marketing & eCommerce and graduating in 2002. His brother, Michael, was also a graduate of Simon Business School (1998).

Post-graduation, Ken worked in brand management at Procter & Gamble, spending five years at P&G in increasing roles within P&G Beauty. His work included leading brand advertising development, brand media planning, and guiding customer and product research for new product innovation. While at P&G, Ken’s ad campaign won a Gold Lion at the Cannes Advertising Festival, and his new product innovation won the P&G Ethnic Brand Building Award. He left P&G for a brief stint in consulting, brand management at global healthcare company, Novartis, and eventually as a director leading UPS’s $10+ billion eCommerce Segment’s marketing efforts.

With entrepreneurship and new product innovation in mind, Ken founded and created Huetiful Hair Steamers—the first commercial hair steamer, which revolutionized natural hair care. Huetiful vertically integrated the company into hair salons, product manufacturing, and consultancy in 2012, and now offers services, manufacturing, and consultancy in its company offerings.

Ken resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife of 18 years, Colette. They both enjoy combining their love of travel and food, spending time in the outdoors, and volunteering in the community. He can be reached on Linkedin or mindlessly followed on Instagram (@kenhuetiful).
